Chelsea with third draw in a row - Arsenal drop points

London: Chelsea apparently can no longer win in the Premier League. Despite investing millions in the winter transfer window, the Blues could not get past a 1-1 draw with West Ham United in the London derby.

Before the Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund in the English Eredivisie, Chelsea were mediocre. The Blues only drew 1-1 (1-1) against West Ham United on Saturday and after their third league draw in a row, they are only in mid-table with 31 points. On Wednesday, coach Graham Potter's team visited BVB in the round of 16, the first leg of the top class.

Two winter newcomers from the premiere class were responsible for the guest guidance. Striker João Félix effortlessly converted a perfect pass from Argentine world champion Enzo Fernández to take a 1-0 lead (16th). West Ham equalized at the first good chance: ex-Chelsea pro Emerson converted a Jarrod Bowen header from close range to make it 1-1 (28th).

As the game progressed, both clubs created many good chances in a fast-paced encounter. Chelsea showed good attack through Mychajlo Mudryk and international Kai Havertz, but Dortmund's opponents still had weaknesses in defence. Fortunately for the Potter side, Tomas Soucek made it 2-1 for West Ham with five minutes remaining. Declan Rice was narrowly ruled offside after a video review.

The Havertz club spent a total of 330 million euros on new stars in January. The ex-Leverkusener was in the starting eleven for the Blues, in the 23rd minute a Havertz goal was disallowed for offside.

Meanwhile, Arsenal initially extended their lead in the English Premier League but dropped two points. The Gunners lost 1-1 (0-0) at FC Brentford and are now six points clear of defending champions Manchester City, who only play Aston Villa at home on Sunday (5pm / Sky). Leandro Trossard (66') scored for the Gunners, Ivan Toney (74') equalized for Brenford.

Tottenham Hotspur, on the other hand, lost to Leicester City 4-1 (3-1), thus losing valuable territory in the fight for a place in the Champions League. Uruguay's Rodrigo Bentancur (14') gave Spurs the lead but Nampaly's Mendy (23') and James Maddison (25') turned the game around with a double. Kelechi Iheanacho (45+4) increased before half time, Harvey Barnes (81) increased to 4:1. Tottenham is fifth with 39 points.

Fulham FC with goalkeeper Bernd Leno won 2-0 (1-0) against Nottingham Forest. Brazil's Willian (17') and Manor Solomon (88') scored for the Cottagers.
